Pricing Page Monitoring

Track competitor pricing changes and get notified when they update their prices

Pricing changes are one of the clearest signals of competitive strategy. RivalReport automatically monitors your competitors' pricing pages and alerts you to any changes.

How It Works

RivalReport continuously monitors the pricing pages of your tracked competitors:

  1. We identify and save the current state of each competitor's pricing page
  2. Our system checks for changes on a regular schedule
  3. When changes are detected, we analyze what specifically changed
  4. You receive a clear, human-readable summary in your weekly report

What We Track

Our pricing monitoring captures:

  • Price changes — Increases or decreases to plan prices
  • Plan additions — New pricing tiers or packages
  • Plan removals — Discontinued offerings
  • Feature changes — Updates to what's included in each plan
  • Billing changes — Monthly vs. annual pricing adjustments
  • Trial changes — Free trial length or terms modifications

Reading Pricing Updates

In your report, pricing changes appear with clear context:

Acme Corp updated their pricing page:

  • Pro plan increased from $49/month to $79/month
  • Added new "Team" plan at $199/month
  • Enterprise plan now requires contacting sales

Adding Custom Pricing Pages

By default, we automatically detect the main pricing page for each competitor. You can also add additional pages to monitor:

  1. Go to the competitor's settings in your dashboard
  2. Click Monitored Pages
  3. Add the URL of any additional pricing page
  4. Click Save

This is useful for competitors with:

  • Multiple product pricing pages
  • Regional pricing variations
  • Hidden or unlisted pricing pages

Interpreting Pricing Changes

Here are some patterns to watch for:

Price Increases

  • Often indicate strong demand and confidence
  • May signal a shift upmarket
  • Could precede new feature releases that justify the increase

Price Decreases

  • Might signal competitive pressure
  • Could indicate a strategy shift toward volume
  • May be temporary promotions

New Tiers

  • Usually indicate targeting a new customer segment
  • Often precede marketing pushes to that segment

Simplified Pricing

  • Reducing tiers often signals a strategic focus
  • May indicate certain segments weren't profitable

Getting Real-Time Alerts

For time-sensitive pricing intelligence, you can enable real-time alerts:

  1. Go to Settings > Alerts
  2. Enable Pricing change alerts
  3. Choose your notification method (email, Slack, or both)

You'll receive immediate notification when we detect significant pricing changes.
